Importing Students from Excel into a Sports Academy

The SporAidat student import accepts .xlsx and .csv files. Legacy .xls is not supported. Files can be up to 5 MB and 2,000 rows, and the first row must contain column headers. You can use an existing spreadsheet or download the XLSX/CSV template from the import screen.

Use one student per row and keep names, guardian contact and group values consistent. Remove blank rows and merged cells. Include only fields needed for the import; avoid adding private notes to a roster.

After upload, map spreadsheet columns to the available fields. The preview shows the first five rows and does not save anything. Check that names, contact details and group values appear under the intended headings before continuing.

For example, verify that values from “Guardian phone” do not appear in the student-name field and that group names use the same spelling throughout the file. Correct the mapping before confirming the import.

After confirming the import, review the counts for created, skipped and failed rows. A repeated person is skipped; rows should not disappear silently. You can download rows that could not be imported as XLSX or CSV, compare them with the source, and fix the relevant values.

Start with a small representative group. Compare the result with the source roster, then import the remaining students. Keep a backup until the review is complete.
